Tracking is great fun and gives our dogs so much fantastic, natural, motivational exercise using one of their most powerful tools - their nose.

Introduction to Tracking is a 3 hour workshop with a small group of up to 4 dogs.

Tracking, simply put, is about following a ground scent from A to B. We start by laying a track and teaching you to handle your dogs to follow a scent (bear in mind they can do this already), gradually adding in difficulty and working on your handling techniques. You will also gain an understanding of how to harness the power of their noses and how to reward. No experience necessary, all sorts of dogs can do this, and dogs that find it difficult to work around others are welcome. Note all dogs must be wearing a well-fitting harness.Dogs will be on lead at all times.

The workshop is held outdoors so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Full details of what to bring with you will be supplied in your confirmation email once you have booked.

I attended the first introductory course at St Erth. My spaniel and I thoroughly enjoyed it and more than once Rosie put me back on the right track! Great fun. Looking forward to follow ups. This was the first time I had met Carolyn and I warmed to her straight away. Great teacher.

A fascinating and illuminating workshop - I was really surprised to see how easily Dora, our rescue dog, took to following a track. Good exercise for humans as well. Can't wait to put what we learned into practice and for the next workshop or get together. Even the dreadful weather didnt diminish the enjoyment. Thank you Carolyn

I took my Spaniel Flossie over to Beano's for the introduction, and then the regular sessions for a few months and she really loved the challenge. Beano's is great as there is so much space for a few dogs to really test their tracking skills. I do hope that the workshops will resume again as we now have another Spaniel, Sammy who is a nine year old ex-working dog and it would be great to give him something to do with his time which is more gentle than flushing out, as he is supposed to be retiring. Would fully recommend these workshops and sessions to anyone, but especially to those dogs who love to use their noses. Rosie
