A practical workshop to help you with your adolescent, difficult or distracted dog.
2 hour workshops, choose date and location above.
Ideal for any dog that you feel is not focussed or responsive when out and about, or that you feel pushes the boundaries with their behaviour. Whether you have a young dog, a rescue dog, or an older distracted dog, keeping focus can be a difficult task. In these workshops we will work on impulse control, teaching calmness, exit strategies when things get difficult, polite greetings with dogs and people, and games to play with your dog when out and about to keep attention on you. More than anything, these workshops are about building your relationship with your dog through recognising how much your own behaviour affects your dog's response - self-control is learnt by both dog and handler.
We will work to the needs of each group, and each dog and handler will work at their own pace. These workshops are set up so that you may just come along to one, or book on to multiple workshops to build up your skills.
These workshop can be a great stepping stone for dog that have graduated through a 121 training or behaviour modification programme where dogs can learn to focus in a safe, real-life environment.
Dogs need to be happy wearing a harness for these workshops as we may be working some of the time on long lines. They also need to be happy being left in the car if we need to work with a dog individually.
If you need to work on your dog coming back when called, we will touch on that in this workshop, but please see our RECALL workshops.
The workshop is held outdoors so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Full details of what to bring with you will be supplied in your confirmation email once you have booked.
