Agility New Starters is for dogs and handlers new to agility or those current handlers who are starting agility with a new dog. Dogs need to be 12 months or over to join.

Agility is both mentally and physically stimulating for dogs and humans. It is great fun, and once you have mastered the pieces of equipment, joining them all up in a course provides new challenges. Then we work on handling techniques to get the fastest and most accurate rounds - there is always something new to learn which is why it is so much fun.

New joiners need to be 12 months or older.

We have a couple of routes to join our Beginner Agility group:

Agility Try-Out
Come along for a 1 to 1 to try out and see if you and your dog enjoy agility, £15 for 30 minutes or £30 for 1 hour. You can either continue with 1 to 1s or join straight in to our Beginner Agility group. See Agility Follow On.

Agility New Starter
If you have done a bit of fun agility in our Life Skills Classes you may want to just book straight on. You book for your first 6 weeks at a cost of £50.  Your first week will be a 30 minute 1 to 1 with our trainer to go through the basics followed by 5 weeks in our Beginner group. Once you have completed your Agility New Starter sessions you can continue in our Beginner Agility group. See Agility Follow On.

Agility Follow On
Once you have completed your Agility Try Out session, or your first Agility New Starter sessions, and you want to continue in our Beginner Agility Group you pay £40 for 5 weeks in advance.

The class is held outdoors so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Full details of what to bring with you will be supplied in your confirmation email once you have booked.

Summary of classes

NEW Starters - We gradually introduce your dog to all the equipment in our Beginner Agility group, helping you to train your dog to achieve their best along with confidence work, handling and focus exercises. Dogs need to be 1 year old to join.
Once your dog had learnt all the basics and your dog knows all the pieces of equipment, we start running you around short courses.

Improvers - Building on the skills learnt in the Beginner class, for handlers the individual pieces of equipment are put together into small courses and we start looking at handling skills - that means it is over you to as the handler! We keep it fun, we work at improving individual equipment skills and build from small exercises into a larger course. The handler builds more skills including independence, distance work, obstacle discrimination and proofing.

Advanced - those who want to compete with their dogs. Ideal for those who want more of a challenge, we work on individual equipment, advanced handling skills, course walking and problem solving.

HOW TO BOOK
If you are new to our classes, please contact our Agility Trainer Amanda Cain on 07977 569974 to discuss which class might be suitable for you to join.
Once you have agreed your 1 to 1 or classes start date, you can pay using the relevant product in the drop down box.

Our Standard Wirehaired Dachshund loves doing Agility, he really benefits from the mental stimulation. We are the ones who need training and Amanda does this very well, making it fun as well as meaningful. She really knows her stuff about how dogs brains tick ..and how us owners can harness and work effectively with them.
