Calm Down Club
- for teenage tearaways, rowdy rescues and gobby grown-ups.
Do you feel your dog does not listen to you? Suddenly the training your puppy picked up so easily has gone out of the window?
Does your dog suddenly pull you in to the bushes, to people, or another dog?
Saturdays at West Cornwall Dog Training, St Just, choose time in drop down box above. The time says 2pm, but some weeks we may have classes running at 2pm and 3pm and we will discuss which group you will be in.
Ideal for: Adolescence can be a very challenging stage with your puppy. Those teenage hormones and habits kick in and your lovely puppy suddenly stops listening to you, becomes frustrated, and finds it difficult to concentrate. Our Calm Down Club helps you through those difficult few months. Or maybe you have a rescue or older dog that finds it difficult to settle or focus. Usually these are social dogs who struggle on the lead or off lead. If your dog has shown any aggression around other dogs or people, please call before booking as this will likely not be the class for you.
Format: Rolling start, booking five weeks at a time. Classes are 45 minutes of training plus 15 minutes between classes to chat. Groups are small so that you can get lots of one to one help. There will always be a lot of commonality between issues, and your sharing of experiences is likely to help others in the group. Groups can be ongoing, keeping going as long as you feel benefit. Please be aware that there may be reasons beyond our control that your class dates change e.g. bad weather. If this happens we will add a week on at the end of your booking as space allows.
What this class covers: Each week we will work on some of the core skills that we would all like to develop with our dogs - focussing on you, manners, plus a big emphasis on settling and just being able to hang out with you when other dogs and humans are around. We take things slowly and calmly with this group so that arousal levels are kept low and we teach you the skills to help your dog relax. We include group and individual exercises and lots of mental activity.
If you have not trained with us before it can be useful, sometimes essential, to do a 1 to 1 before joining this group so that we have a better understanding about your needs, your skills and your dog’s skills. These can take place after the classes, or at other times during the week, and then you can usually join in the following week if there is space. Call Carolyn on 07815 167247 to discuss whether it might be useful to do a 1 to 1 BEFORE you book.
The class is held outdoors so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Full details of what to bring with you will be supplied in your confirmation email once you have booked.
HOW TO BOOK
In the drop down box click the class you will be attending. The time says 2pm, but if we have enough numbers, we will run two classes, one at 2pm and one at 3pm. This may vary over your 5 weeks as we tend to match-make the groups. If you have restriction on the time that you can attend, please let me know in the additional information on your booking.
Choose your 5 weeks on the calendar above by clicking on the available dates. Ideally you choose 5 consecutive weeks, but if you are away for a week then just miss that one out and pick the next available week. If a week is not available it usually means it it already fully booked, and on some occassions I am away, usually around one weekend a month.
If we have to cancel due to weather, your week will be added on at the end of your booking on the next available week.
Click on BOOK NOW and follow the on screen instructions for payment.
If you register with us your details will be available for you to book future courses.
Cost is for 5 sessions. Please see terms and conditions for further information.
